Salvation Army sets up food station in Baum Community

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Salvation Army is always on hand when disaster strikes.

Monday, volunteers packed up and headed to some of the hardest hit areas in Leon County.

The Salvation Army of Tallahassee set up a food station at both Steeds Run and Driftwood Circle in the Baum Community. Storm victims, first responders and volunteers were served hot dogs, chili and other snacks.

Those who stepped up to serve say they are happy to help those communities in need.

"There are people who lost everything with the tornado that touchdown people who lost their homes there maybe some animals missing or sick or something like that and they just need that nourishment someone to tell them hey its going to be O.K.," said Adrianne Kirkland, who volunteers with the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is on standby to return to those same areas Tuesday. The group is waiting to find out if the need will be as great as it was Tuesday.
