ALBANY, Ga. (WTXL) — At Albany State, leaders are giving local students a break and making good on their Golden Ram Guarantee, pushing beyond obstacles and symbolizing the drive to achieve.

Albany State University is now offering remote instruction, tutoring and support.

"It's just really guaranteeing them things are not going to change, despite what's going on in the world today," said Kenyatta Johnson.

Johnson is the vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Success.

As the spring and summer semester remain online, the Golden Rams are giving students a sense of relief from financial strain along with waiving the out of state tuition for students moving from Florida.

"For students in our 28 local county region, we offer scholarships and book vouchers," Johnson said.

Their entire tuition structure adjusted during the pandemic to make education more affordable.

"Our student well being and faculty and staff well being," said Johnson. "That's the priority for us."

Through their Golden Ram Guarantee, she says instructors are available for office hours remotely and at the Ram Central Call Center someone will be there to talk to you.

"When things get back to normal, I'm looking forward to seeing our students back on our beautiful campus." Johnson said.

The school says they hope with those changes the pandemic won't stop students from seeking the opportunities they otherwise would've had.

For new applicants, you may be admitted without an ACT or SAT score for summer and fall of this year.

The school says they're still evaluating the fall and what that will even look like on campus. Until then, they're also offering Virtual Career Services, resume critiques, and mock interviews to help graduates get jobs!
