ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta transit officials say a person has been struck by a commuter train at a downtown station.
MARTA officials say the person was struck shortly before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday near the Georgia State University station.
MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris told reporters that the person was in an unauthorized area when the collision occurred.
MARTA said in a statement that trains were not stopping at the Georgia State station after the wreck as police investigate the accident, and that passengers should expect some delays. The system said it was using buses to help transport some passengers.
MARTA is short for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
