PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The Panama City Beach City Council is trying to tame spring break.
The council on Thursday approved on first readings ordinances that require bars to close at 2 a.m. during spring break and to require photo identification to drink on the beach. They also approved a proposal requiring club owners to hire a designated number of security officers and paramedics at beach events.
The News Herald of Panama City (http://bit.ly/1swOxsO ) reports some residents and business owners favor the changes following the rowdiness of last year's spring break. Other business owners told the council proposed changes would hurt their bottom line because they make money during spring break.
The council will have a second reading of the ordinances in October.
