VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.

Wild Adventures theme park in Valdosta re-opened three weeks ago.

They say they've implemented several safety measures at both Wild Adventures and Splash Island Water Park, including requiring face masks for their employees and all guests ages three and up.

They are also practicing social distancing throughout the park, limiting capacity, and recommending guests make reservations online ahead of time.

"We've made sure to practice social distancing in all of our indoor locations and all of our restaurants," said Adam Floyd, the director of Communications & Marketing at Wild Adventures. "Seating's been spread apart. When you come to the park, we have health screenings and we do temperature checks and, in fact, if you do come to the park without a mask, we will provide one to you free of charge."

They've made other changes including adding a young giraffe to their animal family, replacing the concerts with firework shows Saturday nights in July, and adding a "Healthcare Heroes" program.

"One of the things we wanted to do this month is to make sure we say 'thanks' to all the healthcare heroes that have made sure we stay safe over the past couple of months," Floyd said. "So every weekday throughout the month of July, those healthcare heroes, if they work in any way in the healthcare field, they get in free here at Wild Adventures."

To take advantage of the "Healthcare Heroes" program just bring either your ID badge or other proof of employment to show them you work in the healthcare field.

It's for free weekday admission during the month of July.
