TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.
It's a stressful time, which is why one business is helping people cope during this COVID-19 pandemic.
In Thursday's "We're Open" segment, we learn how a CBD shop owner is offering TLC to customers and the community.
"Depression and a lot of stress," says Ashley Guy, the owner of Tallulah CBD + Juicebar in Market Square.
Guy understands the stress people are going through right now. She's a mom and a small business owner. But her business is different than most.
"Yesterday was a big day for us," Guy said.
Tallulah CBD + Juicebar sells everything from CBD water, to hand sanitizers, even ice cream.
"We have our regular customers, they've been steady," Guy said. "And new customers wanting to try products because they're at home and dealing with a difficult situation."
People like Uyshika Rogers, who's an eyelash technician, and out of work.
"I don't know when I'm going to be able to open things back up," said Rogers. "So it's definitely something that's helping me right now, just stay calm and collected through all this is taking CBD."
CBD does not contain THC, so it does not give users the "high." While it's available over the counter, it's still controversial.
"CBD are great medicines for the right patient," said Dr. Mark Moore, with MEDCAN. "It is a medicine, and when used properly it's very effective."
According to Dr. Moore there are medicinal benefits to CBD products, but he cautions it's not for everyone.
"So stress and pain, I think, are the two most common things, and sleep is also in there," Dr. Moore said. "Does it work to reduce seizure activity? Yes."
Dee Thomas, a car salesman, is a fan of the products and shopping locally.
"I don't buy on Amazon or anything, I spend my money here," said Thomas. "I was born and raised here, so all my money stays here, and it's key and essential for the community to spend money locally."
A product aimed at peace of mind, keeping customers coming back.
Tallulah CBD + Juicebar is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Dr. Moore also suggestions some natural methods of helping your body, including exercising, breathing exercises, massage and stretching, getting sunlight and eating fruits and vegetables.
