TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.
When Prep Pros isn't making healthy meals fit for any nutritional goal, they're finding ways to give back to the community they serve one meal at a time.
Three years ago, David Solomon, John Laster, and Felipe Souza created Prep Pros to provide healthy and affordable meal options in the Big Bend area. Their meal plan service lets you choose meals from a rotating menu and have them delivered fresh to your door, daily.
Solomon says, although they took safety measures before COVID-19, they've made sure to communicate and update customers on those guidelines.
"It really gave us the opportunity to create a bond with the Tallahassee community and our clientele that we already have, to make sure that they knew we were taking care of them, following all of the CDC guidelines, following everything that we need to make sure that our customers are safe," said Solomon.
All Prep Pros deliveries and pickups are done without a contract.
Though most food is used in their subscription service, Prep Pros uses any leftovers as donations and to provide food for the homeless.
"Each semester, a lot of the student housing apartments, they do what's called 'turn,'" Solomon said. "That's when they get these apartments clean and ready for the new students that are coming in. So, for the staff, that are working close to 12-hour shifts a day, we provide them with meals. And we do that with a lot of local student housing apartments in Tallahassee."
