TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.

It's Takeout Tuesday, so why not grab some tacos, margaritas and salsa?

Local Mexican restaurants are hoping you're in the mood to add some festive flare to your meals on Cinco de Mayo.

La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant on North Monroe Street is prepared for more take-out and dine-in orders for May 5.

Owners Sid and Nora Getz say every year, Cinco de Mayo is a busy day for them, celebrated with food and drink specials, and a live band.

This year there isn't a band, there are fewer tables, and not as many orders, but they're happy to be open.

And they're even giving back! This week, La Tiendita is offering discounts to schools for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Next week, the restaurant is offering the discount to hospital employees at Tallahassee Memorial.

"We're going to be donating food for them next week for about 60 or 70 nurses and staff in the emergency room," said Sid Getz. "So we are quite active in the community, and the community returns it and shows it with love by supporting us as well."

So if you want to have a fiesta, La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant is offering specials on some dishes traditionally eaten on Cinco de Mayo.

If you do plan on dining in at La Tiendita or any Mexican restaurant Tuesday night, remember, they are limited to only 25 percent capacity inside, so you may want to make reservations, see if they offer call ahead, or takeout.

If you're a business supporting our community, we want to hear from you.

ABC 27 has made it easy to submit your own business.
