TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.
Alicia Lane said, after eight years of teaching and having her first child, she wanted to do and bring something different to Tallahassee.
Gentlehands Tallahassee PlaySpace is an indoor playground and fun center that specializes in Montessori elements, imaginative play, and assistance with motor feature development in children six years and younger.
"So as they get older, we see every child play with the toys in a new way because their imagination is growing," said Lane. "Their skills are growing, and the toys are growing with them because they're open-ended. So we think that's really important for young kids to have that opportunity to play as much as they want."
With operating a business midst of a pandemic, Lane says she's had to increase her sanitation and change some of the resources Gentlehands offers to accommodate the new mandates for social distancing and coronavirus safety.
"We had two to three classes a day," Lane said. "We had all of that going. It was busy and fun. We had birthday parties every weekend. Now, a lot of that has slowed down. One of our biggest things that we have done, is that we have pivoted into making sensory bins and activities. We do all that kind of prep work for you and we sell all that kind of stuff right now."
Gentlehands Tallahassee PlaySpace also offers special classes, parties, and learning kits which can be reserved online.
