TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With the economic uncertainties from the coronavirus, we here at ABC 27 are shining a light on businesses that are doing their part to help out the community while keeping their business open.
Body Mechanix Physiotherapy and Fitness is teaching people how to take care of themselves one body part at a time.
Body Mechanix Physiotherapy and Fitness is a full-service physiotherapy clinic that's dedicated to manual therapy and corrective exercising.
After years of working as a physical therapist in a Thomasville clinic, owner Dr. Brandon Alkire decided to open his own business to promote healing while providing a better patient experience for people that may not know what physical or physiotherapy is.
From strength training to dry needling, Alkire uses all tools available to physiotherapists to help as many people as he can, even in a pandemic.
"One of the things that we like to do is to make sure that the person that is maybe considering physical or physiotherapy as an option has a chance to come in and see us completely for free, to make sure that they feel we are the right choice for them," said Alkire. "We do that either in person or, for somebody that's concerned about going into a doctor's office, we also have telehealth free consultations as well. "
In addition to free consultations, Body Mechanix provides helpful therapy videos on their social sites and free monthly workshops. This month's workshop is based on how to avoid knee replacements.
"We've also staggered our scheduling so that our patients have at least 15 minutes between one patient and another, which allows us some time to completely break down the treatment room and sanitize all surfaces," Alkire said. "It also makes sure that our patients don't cross paths in and out of the clinic. Just in case somebody has to quarantine themselves, maybe they were exposed, with our in-person visits they can immediately transition over to our tele-rehab and be able to keep going."
Body Mechanix Physiotherapy and Fitness provides services based on appointment only. For more information click here.
