FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Fayette County leaders want Facebook to tighten its privacy regulations on teenagers who use the social media giant.
Channel 2 Action News reports (http://bit.ly/HxcFVx ) that Fayette County commissioners on Thursday approved a resolution asking that Facebook not allow its young users to select relaxed privacy settings that allow public access to a user's portfolio on the site.
Facebook recently announced changes that allow users between the ages of 13 to 17 to make their posts, pictures and videos public, rather than just a user's friends on the site.
The commission's resolution said the move opens young users to threats and accused the company of putting potential advertising revenues over safety.
