TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A big-time fan of FAMU football got quite the surprise over the weekend to make her birthday extra special.
Haylie Hunter isn't a fan of playing football herself, but boy, does she love watching the Rattlers.
"I like how the football players -- they run really fast," said Haylie.
She's met several of them over the years, building a strong relationship.
"Every time she sees them on the field, and she calls out their name..," said Haylie's mother, Taylor Hunter.
Haylie first met the Rattlers when she was just 3 years old at FAMU Fan Day. Since then, she and her mom have been to as many football games as they can. Haylie says, win, lose or draw, she's a Rattler fan for life.
"I wanted my friends to believe me," said Haylie.
She's talking about her birthday party over the weekend. For months, her mom was planning a special visit from Haylie's favorite team but Haylie had no idea.
A birthday Haylie says will be hard to beat, but this joy should last all year.
The Rattlers wore special shirts that said "Happy birthday, Princess Haylie" who turned 8 years old Monday. They also surprised her with a brand new bike and unicorn toy.
