TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The cause of a house fire on Yorkshire Drive in Tallahassee is under investigation, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the fire on January 2 at 8:16 a.m. A person inside the house called 911 after smelling smoke inside the home.

The fire was through the roof of the building when fire crews arrived.  Firefighters put the fire out, and one adult tenant made it out of the house safely.

Though the cause is under investigation, fire officials say they believe is electrical in nature. They add that the fire appears to have started in a hallway.

The blaze caused an estimated $30,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.

Red Cross assistance was requested.
