THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The mother of a 12-year-old boy who was shot by another family member is now facing charges.
Laquinta Williams was arrested Wednesday afternoon.
She is also the mother of the 15-year-old boy charged with the shooting in November.
Investigators tell us the firearm used in the shooting was stolen from a vehicle two days before the shooting. Investigators say Williams has 12 children.
According to Captain Maurice Holmes, the 12-year-old and other children have been removed from their mother's home. Investigators say the 12-year-old boy who was shot in the head is lucky to be alive.
"The child, who was in dire condition, is doing well," said Cpt. Holmes. "When it happened, the situation looked bleak. The recovery was nothing short of a miracle."
Investigators tell us that williams has been arrested a few times.
Holmes says police receive complaints from neighbors at each place she lives. Williams is charged by the gbi with two counts of cruelty to child in the second degree.
