JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 4-year-old was seriously injured after being hit by a tire from a car in Jackson County.
Florida Highway Patrol said the accident happened at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday on Cornwell Road.
FHP states a car was traveling east on a private driveway on Cornwell Road, and the child was walking beside the car trying to hold on to the front door.
The driver of the car told FHP that she stopped and told the child to stop holding on and get away from the car.
FHP says when the car started to move again, the child tried to grab hold of the car, when he fell to the ground.
FHP states that caused a tire from the car to hit the child.
The child was taken to Southeast Medical Center with serious injuries.
Alcohol did not play a factor in the accident and FHP says charges are currently pending.
