JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Jackson County Sheriff's Office have arrested a missing juvenile in connection to a car burglary on Monday, August 28.
On Monday, August 28, Deputies responded to the scene where a mother reported that her 14 year old daughter had ran away from their home just outside Marianna.
Officers conducted a search of the area, but concluded without being able to locate the 14 year old. The juvenile was entered as a missing person.
On the same day and location, a car burglary was reported by its owner. The owner reported a .40 cal handgun hand been taken from the car.
Due to evidence found at the scene, it was determined by deputies that the juvenile had potentially stolen the handgun. The handgun was entered as stolen.
On Tuesday, August 29, deputies received information that lead them back to the juvenile’s residence. The mother was at work at this time. It was also determined that the 14 year old juvenile did have the stolen firearm in her possession.
Several units from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the home and were able to take the juvenile into custody without incident. The handgun was recovered in the property of the juvenile.
The juvenile was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility in Panama City.
The juvenile was charged with Burglary of a Conveyance with a Firearm.
