16-year-old killed in Suwannee County pedestrian crash

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A 16-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a car in Live Oak Thursday morning.  

Caleb Underwood, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 6:58 a.m. Thursday on 76th Street. 

FHP said a Dodge Charger was traveling on 76th Street, while Underwood was walking on 76th Street in front of the Dodge Charger. 

FHP stated for reasons currently under investigation, the Dodge Charger hit Underwood in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

The driver of the Dodge Charger was not injured in the accident.  

FHP said charges are pending the traffic homicide investigation. 


SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -  First responders are reporting a fatality after a pedestrian-involved crash in Live Oak. 

According to Suwannee Fire Rescue, there were two separate pedestrian-involved crashes Thursday morning. One was on Winderweedle Street and the other was one 76th Street.

They say the crash on 76th Street resulted in a fatality. The Florida Highway Patrol reports the crash happened around 7 a.m. Thursday morning. 

At this time, no road blockages are being reported, though SCFR is warning drivers to slow down and take their time to get to their destination safely.
