COLUMBIA CO., Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a single vehicle accident in The Columbia High School North Campus parking lot, located at 469 Fighting Tiger Drive.

Troopers say as 17-year old driver Harley Michelle Larson pulled out of her parking space, her friend, 14-year old Orion Avery Merrill jumped on the hood of Larson's car. FHP says as Larson circled around in the parking lot, Merrill fell off the hood and was run over, with the left rear tire on top of Merrill's chest. Troopers say witnesses lifted the left side of the car to get Merrill out from underneath.

Merrill is being treated at a hospital. Larson was uninjured. Both are from Lake City.

Charges are pending.
