21-Year Old Falls Asleep Behind Wheel, Crashes Into Tree

JEFFERSON CO., Fla. (WTXL) -- A 21-year old is now facing charges, after falling asleep behind the wheel and crashing.

It happened Sunday, around 11 p.m.  on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Ashley Self of Gainesville fell asleep,  and drove her car into a tree, causing $10,000 dollars in damage.

Self was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital. She is being charged with failure to drive in a single lane. 

According to authorities, alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
