29-year-old dies in single vehicle crash on Siesta Drive

UPDATE: One of the backseat passengers in an SUV died at the scene of a single vehicle crash on Siesta Key. 

Christopher Tirado, 29, of Bradenton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A Dodge Journey was traveling northbound on Higel Avenue in Sarasota, approaching Siesta Drive around 2:15 a.m.

The driver failed to negotiate a turn in the road. The SUV went off the road and struck a tree. 

There were three occupants inside the vehicle. A female driver, and two backseat passengers, a male and female. 
 
The two females, driver and backseat passenger, were both transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
 
Only the driver was wearing a seatbelt.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.  The crash remains under investigation.

SARASOTA Co., Fla (WWSB) -- The Sarasota Police Department is currently on the scene of a single vehicle crash that happened early Monday morning on Siesta Key.

Siesta Drive is closed from White Lane to Faubel Street until further notice.

The crash was fatal for a passenger.

It is under investigation.
