LITHONIA, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting his 13-year-old friend at a home in suburban Atlanta has been charged.
Local news media reported Thursday that the 17-year-old boy has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. Authorities say the teens were playing with a handgun when it accidently discharged, striking the victim in the face around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
DeKalb police say the boys found the gun in the woods near a home in Lithonia. Police say the victim did not live in the home where the shooting occurred.
Police say an investigation is still ongoing.
