THOMAS Co., GA (WTXL) - Law Enforcement released more details in the crash involving a prison van that killed a father and daughter in Thomas County.

According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the prison van was crossing Highway 84 at Gatlin Creek Road when it hit a 2000 Chevy Silverado.

Troopers say the SUV spun, hit a tree and flipped before coming to a rest. Three people were ejected from the Silverado including the driver, Bobby Joe Edwards and his 6-year-old daughter.

Edwards was pronounced dead on-scene and the 6-year-old died at the hospital, said troopers. The third person ejected from the vehicle was Shirley Diane Hunt who is still in critical condition.

A 14-year-old female was also in the SUV. Troopers say she was not ejected and was the only person who they can say for sure was wearing a seat belt. She too is in critical condition.

Ernest Wayne Givens, 58, was driving the prison van at the time of the crash and was the lone passenger, according to law enforcement.

GSP says charges are pending. At this time they have not released the names of the two minors involved in the crash.
