LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - The Lowndes High School football program is one recognized and respected with five State titles and 12 region championships and the Lincoln High football program, winners of three State titles, will play each other this Friday night.
It's a battle on the border and it's our Friday Night Football Game of the Week.
Two storied programs, fighting for bragging rights, and both schools are looking for a challenge.
Friday's meeting marks the first time these two have ever played and both coaches are using this one as a measuring stick.
Lowndes is a young, hungry team and head coach Randy McPherson says this Viking group is ready to prove themselves.
Quinn Gray's Trojans, building off last year's youth notes they still have a lot of work to do and to face a talented team at the quarter point in the season is good for both squads.
"Going up there, fourth week of the season, it's where we need to be starting to come together as a team and really figuring out who we are and making a stamp and actually putting a stamp on this season," said Gray.
"Two good teams get together ,it's always going to come back to fundamentals. Who wants it the most and who has the best fundamentals," said McPherson.
Lowndes defeated Lincoln 51-15 Friday night.
