WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Last year the format for making it into the playoffs changed for high school football teams in the state of Florida.
In Class 5A, you win a District title, you're in, and Godby and Wakulla, both want in.
The two square off Friday, Godby at Wakulla, and it's our Friday Night Football Game of the Week.
You earn that District title, you seal up a spot in the postseason, so for a sure way in, both Godby and Wakulla are looking for victories Friday night.
Godby is 5-0 and Wakulla is 4-1 but on a four game win streak. Both are two of the top teams in Class 5A.
This game is a long time rivalry. Godby head coach Corey Fuller stressing his Cougars have to worry about themselves, while Wakulla's Scott Klees is happy with the way his guys get better each week.
Two good teams and both coaches expecting a physical one Friday night.
"This is for all the marbles, for District play, for bragging rights around here, but it's just another game for us, game on the schedule, that we have to play and have to go to the right thing," said Fuller.
"It's definitely Godby week. Big rival game, it's been that way since I've been here. Lot of pride. I think my record is 8-8 in the 16 games we've played," said Klees.
Godby defeated Wakulla 37-13 Friday night.
