(WTXL) - The Jefferson County Tiger football team won a State Championship in 2011. Since then, success has been hard to come by.
Last season, Leroy Smith took over the reigns, becoming their ninth head coach in the last 15 years.
That's the past though. This team is focused on the future and we're checking in with the Tigers for Tuesday's Friday Night Football Camp Chat.
Smith is looking to give the Tigers some consistency and get them back to their winning ways.
Jefferson is the owner of six State titles. Last year, they finished 4-7, making the play-offs but falling in the first round.
Smith's got big goals for this group. They may be small number wise, but they are loaded. Leading receiver Dayshawn Davis is back, two way stand-out LaMontrez McMillan transferred in.
This group is hungry and ready to make a name for themselves.
Smith and the Tigers take on Gadsden County in preseason action August 17. They open up at Dixie County on the 24.
