TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Friday night was a fun one for the Florida High football team as they had their Midnight Madness.
The guys opted for a late night practice, why? Because Saturday was the first day for Florida schools to practice in pads.
It was a good turnout too for the Noles, who look to replace eight key players from last year's state semifinal team.
Head coach Jarrod Hickman wanted to establish some depth with this team and that'll be the focus over the next couple of weeks.
"Change it up. Get the kids something to get excited about. It's something we haven't done before. Really you just want to come out here under the lights and get better. You don't get to practice underneath the lights all the time so why not do it. Just be more consistent," said Hickman. "Be more consistent on the fronts. We're switching so many guys on the fronts looking for those guys to step up on the fronts and just work our timing. We only get a couple weeks before we play so it's really important to get out timing down."
Florida High travels for their preseason match-up when they play Stoneman Douglas in Daytona on August 18.
