MONTICELLO, Fla. (WTXL) - For high school football teams in the state of Florida, they already have a week under their belts of fall camp.
For Aucilla Christian, they are hoping last year's youth will translate to big success this year.
Head coach Colby Roberts says this year's theme for this program? Maximum effort.
He said this team's work ethic is some of the best he's ever been around.
Even better for Aucilla? The Warriors lost just five seniors off a very young team in 2017 and Roberts is hoping a lot of playing time for some young players last year pays off this fall.
"As a coach you can only do so much in practice, you almost have to wait to look at guys skill sets and see where they fit. For the most part, we almost have that pinned down from last year, so it's very nice going into this season knowing what guys can do in the positions they belong," said Roberts. "We're making strides in the right direction and they're really buying in so I'm excited to see what we're going to do this year."
Aucilla Christian travels to Sherwood Christian for their preseason game on Aug. 17.
