CENTERVILLE, FLA. (WTXL) - The community of Centerville is located in the northern region of Leon County. It's just a 15 minute drive from downtown Tallahassee, and for many for the drive is the appeal.

Along Centerville Road is the community of Centerville. If you have any confusion on whether you've made it there, just look up. The area's roadways are known for retaining their history.

The canopy roads in Centerville have been in existence since the early 19th century. Many of the roads originate from old Native American trails that were turned into market roads by plantation owners. The wagon road of Old Centerville Road was a part of a north to south path linking the the Antebellum plantations to Tallahassee.

Today, Leon County works to preserve the history behind these roads. Centerville remains one of the few undeveloped areas in Leon County, and natives say it's a must see for visitors.
