WTXL Question Center: Tackling mental health issues in the current climate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The latest edition of WTXL Question Center is discussing mental health for teenagers.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in 5 youth aged 13 to 18 experience a severe mental disorder at some point during their life.

Tuesday, we will have five experts in mental health in our WTXL newsroom to answer your calls about mental health issues parents and teenagers are facing today.

Here's who will be answering your calls:

Dr. Robert Miles: Dr. Miles is a psychiatrist specialist in Tallahassee who graduated from the University of Tennessee. He has been in practice both at Tallahassee Memorial as well as private practice. He has well over 50 years experience in the mental health field.

Dr. Larry Kubiak.  Dr. Kubiak is a neuro-psychologist in the Tallahassee area who specializes in psychological evaluations as well as neuro-psychology.  He has worked close to 40 years with Tallahassee Memorial Behavioral Health Center and is experienced both in mental health issues regarding adults as well as adolescents.

Randy Vickers: Randy Vickers is a licensed mental health counselor and licensed therapist whose primary area of expertise is adolescents. In addition, he has worked very closely with educational services and solution skills. He has also done direct services and, at one time, was a school counselor at Lincoln High School. He is very familiar with this community.

Lonnie Wesley: Lonnie is a licensed clinical social worker who has worked close to 40 years in the field of mental health. What is important about Lonnie is that she has worked not only in community mental health, as has Dr. Kubiak and Dr. Miles, but has also worked with Capital Healthplan, a local health management organization, and is currently in private practice. 

Dr. Linda Miles: Dr. Miles is a writer, author, seasoned marriage and family therapist and has worked in the field for 40 years. She has published several books on mindfulness as well as marriage and is very skilled in her area. 

Jane Marks: Jane Marks is a family therapist and worked in this field since 1969. She's been in private practice for over 40 years and her area of expertise is adolescents.
