MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - Thursday morning, both candidates for Florida's next governor, Ron DeSantis and Andrew Gillum, announced their running mates.
They both waited until the state deadline of Thursday to nominate their candidates for lieutenant governor.
But both made what, they hope, will be critical choices to help them win in November.
"I'm also proud to have selected a very special friend to be my running mate in this endeavor," said DeSantis. "Jeanette Nuez from Miami. Jeanette is smart, she's principled, she's been an extremely effective legislator."
"We could not be prouder than to welcome and introduce the next lieutenant governor of the great state of Florida and his wife, Kristin," said Gillum. "I want to welcome to join us Mr. Chris King, businessman from Orlando and great friend."
Election day is two months away on Nov. 6.
