TAMPA, Fla. (WTXL) - ABC7's Alan Cohn had an exclusive interview with Donald Trump during his stop in Tampa about pressing for Zika virus funding and more.

President Obama has asked Congress for $1.9 billion to help the spread of the Zika virus and to accelerate research, vaccines and testing. Many Republicans in congress support the funding.

But Speaker Paul Ryan has not had a vote on the money. There are currently 42 local cases of Zika in Florida, with 494 travel-related infections.

When asked if he would be willing to call Speaker Ryan and ask him to come back from break to vote on this issue because Florida is in crisis, Trump said he would.

“I will do that, yea. I have no problem with doing that,” Trump said.

"We have to allocate a lot of money to Florida and to other places to fight it," Trump said. "I would certainly be willing to get involved. If I were president, I would guarantee it would a lot different."

"It’s a tough fight, because nobody really knows where it’s coming from and nobody knows if anything works." Trump lauded Gov. Scott on his efforts in dealing with the virus. "He’s out there fighting and making the situation a lot better that it could be."

In an unrelated matter, on giving money to the Clinton Foundation, Trump said, "Frankly I did it because you always get treated very well."

He said he thinks there will be evidence of illegalities regarding the foundation very soon. "These are players, I know a lot of these players," Trump said. "They are going in because they want something.
