WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has suspended Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby.
A review commission picked by the governor investigated the charges against Hobby after he violated the rights of students at Worth County High School during a controversial drug search last spring.
Now the chief superior court judge will soon name an interim sheriff or sheriff to sit in Hobby's position until the final disposition of his case.
The Georgia Sheriffs Association says the criminal case will occur in January and is expected to be resolved by then.
