TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- Decisions have rolled in. The Universal waste collection proposal was unianimously outnumbered.
The decision was based on it requiring the Universal solid waste collection to be located in unincorporated areas in Leon County.
Other proposals such as the gas hike was rejected tonight.
If accepted it would have raised gas to about five cents per gallon.
Resident Denise Nash says she is thankful that the proposals didn't go through. She's still wondering why this was needed in the first place.
"Is the money going to go back in the school system, is it going back into housing, I mean where would it benefit people as a whole?" said Denise Nash, Leon County resident.
County commissioner Nick Maddox says the extra money would go toward a budget deficit of more than $7 million dollars.
Another proposal still stands. Commissioners opted to increase the stormwater assessment costs from 20 to 80 dollars annually.
Commissioners say the move is much needed at a time such as this. There hasn't been any increase in about 20 years.
