LEON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Firefighters said that they were called to a Leon County landfill after wood chipper caught fire.
Tallahassee Fire Department said that a large wood chipper had caught fire when they were called around 11:30 a.m. They said that fire started at the Leon County Solid Waste Management facility off of Apalachee Parkway.
When firefighters arrived, they found billowing clouds of black smoke coming from the wood chipper. They were able to put the fire out and said that there were no injuries that they were aware of.
TFD said there were reports that an explosion was heard as a result of the fire though they are still investigating the cause.
