LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - According to a recent study by the Leon County Government, women are paid nearly the same amount as men in the organization.
Results from the study show women in Leon County Government earn slightly more then men.
Based on a different study from the U.S. Census Bureau Annual Income and Poverty, Leon County exceeds the national and state median salary gaps.
"Our initial research turned out to be some good news, frankly what we thought it would reveal," said Vince Long, Leon County Administrator. "It not only speaks value to our organization to pay people equally for the same work or equitably for the same work but we also think it positions us competitively as an organization to attract the best people for the job."
Long says they will continue to monitor their wages regularly to ensure everyone gets a fair salary.
