FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Franklin County deputy is recovering after being bitten by a woman who was believed to be under the influence of drugs.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a call Tuesday morning about an individual behaving erratically along Highway 98 in a very congested area.

When deputies arrived on scene, they confronted a woman who was screaming and yelling, appearing to be under the influence of some type of drug.

Deputies stated the woman tried to swallow a bag white powder, which they later said after investigating could have been flakka and methamphetamine.

FCSO also said as a deputy was trying to keep her out of traffic, the deputy was bitten on his arm and hand by the woman.

Deputies stated the woman was taken to the hospital, where she remained overnight and the deputy was treated at Weems Memorial Hospital and has been released.
