CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Police are working to identify the body of a woman found along a highway in Bartow County who investigators believe was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
News outlets report that the woman was found early Thursday along Interstate 75 in Cartersville early Thursday and forced the closure of the highway for about two hours.
Cartersville police spokesman Lt. Michael Bettikofer tells WSB-TV (http://on-ajc.com/1pPnqJq) that the woman was likely hit by a vehicle on Wednesday night. Bettikofer described the victim as being in her early 50s. He says she had no tattoos and carried no photo identification.
