DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A woman is recovering in a Daytona Beach hospital after being mauled by a pack of dogs while walking with her daughter in western Flagler County.

Sheriff's deputies say 27-year-old Brandy Bookamer suffered "heavy wounds" by five dogs around 8 p.m. Sunday. She was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach for treatment. Her 6-year-old daughter was not injured.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the woman suffered puncture wounds and scratches to her extremities and was "barely moving" when help arrived.

Flagler County Sheriff's Lt. Bob Weber says the dogs were pit bulls. Flagler County Animal Control took the dogs.

Bookamer's daughter was with her grandparents late Sunday.
