LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - The Georgia Department of Transportation says a woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after a head-on crash in Valdosta.
The crash happened on S.R. 31 (Madison Highway) northbound near Olympia Road Tuesday around 5:30 p.m.
GSP says that a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Eloise Roberts of Lake Park, Ga. was traveling north on Madison Highway when she began going around a curve.
At the same time, a 2014 Nissan Frontier Pick-up driven by Morgan Harlan of Pinetta, Fla. was going around the same curve in the opposite direction. For an unknown reason, troopers say Roberts' car traveled into the southbound lane, causing a head-on crash with Harlan's pick-up truck.
Roberts was pronounced deceased at the scene and Harlan was transported to the South Georgia Medical Center for his injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts during the crash. Alcohol or drugs do not seem to be a factor in the crash.
