Woman involved in crash on I-10WB in serious condition

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A woman is in serious condition after crashing her vehicle into an unoccupied car on I-10 westbound Wednesday morning.  

Florida Highway Patrol says Brenda Howard, 61, of Tallahassee, was traveling westbound on I-10 in the area of mile marker 197 near Monroe Street. 

FHP says the other vehicle was unoccupied, disabled, and stationary on the shoulder of the road. 

According to FHP, Howard for reasons unknown, drove off the roadway and onto the shoulder, hitting the other vehicle. 

Howard was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.  

FHP was assisted by the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County EMS, and the Tallahassee Fire Department.  

FHP says Howard was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the accident. 

FHP states charges are pending further investigation. 


TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Parts of I-10 are shut down after a vehicle overturned Wednesday morning, trapping a woman inside according to witnesses.

The Florida Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 10:57am, arriving at 11:06am. The center and inside lanes of I-10 between the Capital Circle and Monroe Street exit is blocked. 

FHP says to use caution in the area.
