MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) - According to the Dougherty County Police, officials responded to reports of a shooting Thursday afternoon.
Officials said a woman was shot in the head.
The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office said that the ambulance arrived at Moree's Service Station at the corner of Moultrie and South County Line roads. It is not clear at this time if she was shot near the area or she arrived at the store after she was shot. Investigators are working to determine where the shooting happened.
She was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Her condition has not been released at this time.
It wasn't immediately clear what led to the shooting or the extent of the woman's injuries.
DCP and the Worth County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, but the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
