VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--A Valdosta woman is honored with a prestigious award for her service to the community.
Jennifer Steedley is the 2013 Valdosta Woman of the Year. Steedley works for the Valdosta City School system as the director of public relations. She is also active in the community with a number of organizations including the Children's Advocacy Center and the Junior Service League who nominated her for the award.
"It's very humbling but at the same time I just feel honored to be chosen as the one named woman of the year," said Steedley. "I think everybody in the room, kind of deserves that honor in some form or fashion."
Steedley received the award at the 56th Annual Woman of the Year Brunch, sponsored by the Valdosta Junior Woman's Club Saturday.
