TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One woman used her Christmas morning and afternoon to spread awareness about domestic and sexual violence.

Sandra Collins of Handle Me with Care Dolls went around the Leon and Gadsden County areas, dropping off dolls on the front steps of churches to give to women to help fight against domestic violence.

The dolls were dropped out in front of churches because Collins is calling on those places of worship to take a bigger role in solving domestic violence and abuse.

Both Collins and one of the women receiving the dolls understand the importance of speaking out against domestic and sexual violence.

"We want to spread the word about domestic violence, but also bring healing to the community at this time of year," Collins said.

Cheryl Williams, who received a doll, said that "I personally wasn't looking to receive anything, because I remembered my days of growing up as a child when I didn't receive anything and I am always looking for someone to give."

About 60 dolls were given out to churches and people around the community.
