ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — An Amtrak train fatally struck a woman who was walking on the railroad tracks in central Florida.
The crash occurred Thursday night in in Altamonte Springs.
Police Lt. Rob Pelton tell the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/20OldfH ) the engineer saw the woman on the tracks just south of the SunRail station and sounded a horn to warn her.
Pelton says they don't know whether the woman tried to get out of the way of the train, which was heading from Miami to New York. None of the passengers were injured.
The woman's name hasn't been released.
It is the second fatal Amtrak crash in central Florida during the past week. On Friday, a man was struck by a train in what authorities called an "apparent suicide."
