ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - A woman drove her vehicle into a prison transport van early Saturday morning.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, officers were loading prisoners into the transport van in downtown when Emily Spiess drove into the van. The 30-year-old woman sideswiped an officer and hit the van as other officers got out of the way.

Officers were able to stop Spiess a short time later and she was taken into custody. The officers found marijuana and other narcotics in Spiess' vehicle. She has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, fleeing and eluding and possession of marijuana.

It's unclear if any of the prisoners were injured, but an officer was treated at Bayfront Hospital for a minor injury after the officer's foot was rolled over by Spiess' vehicle.
