Woman Charged with Federal Stolen Identity Fraud

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A former Tallahassee resident is accused of filing multiple fraudulent federal income tax returns, totaling over $100,000.

The U.S. Department of Justice said that Teona Rodgers, who currently lives in Tampa, made her first appearance in court Thursday and has been charged with federal stolen identity fraud. 

They said that Rogers is accused of using several individuals' personal information and account numbers to file numerous fraudulent federal income tax returns, totaling over $100,000.

The indictment document alleges that between January 2012 and February 2013, Rodgers knowingly filed multiple fraudulent income tax returns, filing as many as 23 times seeking over $100,000 in returns.

Her trial is scheduled for March 20th.
