THOMASVILLE, GA (WTXL) - Police said a staff member at a Thomasville private school has accused a school administrator of hitting and choking a student.

The Thomasville Police Department said that an assistant at Favors Christian Academy told them that she has seen Administrator Linda McLean abuse children at the school.

Police said that the staff member told them that in one incident on Sept. 19th, she was walking with her group of children to the choir room when McLean spotted a child who was in line talking.

The staff member said she corrected the child, but McLean asked who she was reprimanding and hit the child on the knuckles with a large permanent marker. According to a police report, McLean then grabbed the child around the neck and began choking.

The staff member told police that she overheard McLean tell the child that she would "choke the life out of her". After that, she let the child go. Police said they were told that the incident happened in front of about 30 other kids.

Police also said the staff member advised that this incident was not the first of its kind. Since the staff member became an assistant at the school in January, she said that she has documented incidents ranging from verbal to mental to physical abuse.

McLean has been charged with felony cruelty to children.
