VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Wild Adventures Theme Park is putting their finishing touches on rides, restaurants, and animal exhibits as they prepare for the opening of the 2017 season on March 11.
“Opening weekend is always exciting when we welcome our guests back home to their park,” General Manager Molly Deese said. “It feels like family has been away and are coming home. We can hardly wait for everyone to rediscover their familiar favorites while exploring all that is new and different this year.”
Guests will see upgrades and enhancements all over the park from the main entrance all the way to Splash Island Water Park.
Among the upgrades is a major addition called "Ohana Bay" that will open on April 1. The addition will feature seven new slides, five designed for the smaller guests and two more that reach 26 feet high and have 200 feet of twists and turns.
The park will also be welcoming two new baby animals and a toucan named "Rita" as an ambassador animals.
The new animals are two pygmy marmosets. Marmosets are sometimes called finger monkey due to their size and playfulness. These babies are about three months old, but when fully grown they will be between six and eight inches tall.
The park will host a naming contest for the male and female who are Ambassador Animals and will meet and greet guests and help with educational programs.
