MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Almost a year after a gunman's rampage at a FedEx facility just outside Atlanta, the wife of a security guard who was shot at close range said her husband is motivated but tired after undergoing nearly three dozen surgeries.
Jamie Lynn Sparkman told reporters Wednesday that her husband, Christopher, has been in the hospital since Feb. 16, when he went in for what they expected would be his final surgery. But complications have led to more surgeries since then for a total of 34.
Police have said 19-year-old co-worker Geddy Kramer shot Sparkman at the start of an April 29 attack at a FedEx facility near Atlanta. Police said Kramer wounded six people, including Sparkman, before killing himself.
Jamie Lynn Sparkman says the ordeal has also been financially draining.
