TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--The search for Florida's new lieutenant governor could be on the way. It's a vacant position left open by the abrupt resignation of Jennifer Carroll and a job Governor Rick Scott says he would focus on with the end of the legislative session.

The governor's office did not get back WTXL in march the governor said he already had a few people in mind that would be interested in taking the job. he hasn't said who those people are at this point.

This all started back when former Lt.Governor Jennifer Carroll resigned amid allegations of fraud with the allied veterans of the world company she previously represented.

This investigation also prompted the legislature to put an across the state ban on internet cafes in Florida.

no criminal charges were ever filed against Carroll but she claims she quit because it would be a distraction to the state.

The position has been open for nearly two months now and at one point the governor completely closed down the office.

The governor is responsible for appointing someone to the position. One of the most important reasons the state has a lieutenanht governor is to be a back up in case something happens to the governor.
